ACVREP Posts OT Certification Proposed Criteria for Public Comment until 1/30/25

Board of Directors, the Subject Matter Expert Committee [SME] and the Advisory Committee to the SME are posting the Certified Vision Rehabilitation Occupational Therapist [CVROT] certification criteria for public comment.

Please note that this criteria uses terms that are used in the practice of occupational therapy that are similar to those historically used in the field of visual impairment but have a different definition and meaning for the occupational therapist. As a result a Definition of Terms is included in the criteria following the Introduction. It is important to review those definitions before reviewing the additional criteria.

The SME included OTs some of whom are also certified as CVRT, CLVT and COMS and the Advisory Committee included CVRTs, COMS and the President of ACB who represented the consumer perspective in the criteria development process.

The public comment period is a critical part of the development of a certification. The constructive comments presented when other certifications were being developed were an essential element in the process. Because we are approaching the holiday season and considering the length of the document, the public comment period will be extended until January 30, 2025 to ensure those who wish to comment have sufficient time to review and provide feedback.

Both the SME and the Board of Directors will review all comments submitted.
