Return to view all job openingsThe Division for the Blind and Visually Impaired within the Maine Department of Labor’s Bureau of Rehabilitation Services is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director (Rehabilitation Services Manager). This position requires occasional statewide travel.
This is professional services work of a managerial nature in directing and coordinating independent living, education and vocational program services of the Division, its policies and programs, including those directed by the federal Rehabilitation Services Administration, for individuals in Maine who are blind or visually impaired.
Responsibilities include direct budget preparation and management of federal and state funds; developing and implementing policies; managing contracts; coordinating interdepartmental services; supervising direct service and administrative staff; ensuring compliance with disability rights laws and policies; and providing advocacy on behalf of people who are blind and visually impaired.
The successful candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the needs of people who are blind and visually impaired, have experience in providing services to these populations, and demonstrate the ability to administer public programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A ten (10) year combination of education, training, and/or experience in social work and/or rehabilitation including at least one (1) year experience in an administrative capacity.
Preference may be given to person with supervisory experience and/or who has blindness rehabilitation experience.
