Supervision
Planning & Service
Participate in ongoing program development, establishment, implementation and evaluation efforts;
Remains current regarding issues affecting the field of Vision Rehabilitation;
Attends regional and/or national conference
Case Management & Reporting
Working closely with clients of all ages with a visual impairment to assess their needs;
Conduct adult and youth assessments as scheduled. Complete full and accurate documentation of each and develop required individualized service plans.
Teach independent living skills, low vision skills, communication skills, and technology skills to individuals or to small groups;
Teach on-going braille lessons (as determined through evaluation);
Determine the most effective adaptive devices and make appropriate recommendation on acquiring them;
Work within the requirements of contract and grant funding sources;
Serve as a resource providing information and public education within the community, assist in the community education effort in an effort to identify unserved and underserved clients and serve as an ambassador for the agency and its mission;

Accept and perform other duties as assigned relating to the professional role and responsibilities of a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist.
Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Lighthouse Vision Loss Education Center;
Community Education
Provide information and adjustment counseling services, serve as an advocate, and make referrals to other agencies for support services;
Utilize the agency’s database to prepare and maintain client service records and outcome data in a professional manner;
Develop and maintain a professional working relationship and ongoing communication with Division of Blind Service (DBS) and other agencies;
Provide and maintain continuing support and/or information to families of clients, as appropriate;
Serve as a resource providing information and public education within the community, assist in the community education effort in an effort to identify unserved and underserved clients and serve as an ambassador for the agency and its mission;
Develop and maintain a strong and positive collaborative working relationship with other staff, inter-departmentally, across the agency to provide seamless and comprehensive services to clients;
Professional Development
Remain professionally active and maintain efforts to learn about new teaching, methods, tools, techniques, devices, apps, etc.
Participate in available continuing education and staff development opportunities, including opportunities to present to professional peers and co-workers.
Participate in general agency development activities and events as appropriate and necessary.
Attends regional and/or national conferences as appropriate to build knowledge base and maintain ACVREP certification;
Participate in agency and department meetings to ensure communication and teamwork.
Perform other duties as required, including serving adult clients when circumstances require.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Masters in Vision Rehabilitation
Current Certification with ACVREP;
Strong communication skills;
Experience:
· Experience working with adults, youth and persons with disabilities.
· Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written English.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
· Proficient in use of computers including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet research.
· Working knowledge of screen readers, iOS devices, braille displays and note takers preferable.
· Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, their families and the general public.
· High degree of discretion when dealing with confidential information.
Physical Demands:
Independently navigate work environment and the LCF service community
Moderate ability to move and lift items usually ranging up to 25 lbs.
Prolonged standing upon occasion
Prolonged sitting at workstation
General good health and energy
