Responsibilities:

Provide instruction to clients on skills and equipment to improve their navigation abilities.
Interview clients to assess their needs and desired outcomes and develop lesson plans to achieve those outcomes.
Create structured scenarios to identify clients' abilities and limitations and discuss findings with them.
Must be able to work with clients in their homes, community and facility.
Ability to commute to client’s homes/community in their own vehicle.
Document clients' skill progression and final status in agency software.
Supervise and mentor interns.
Coordinate client and staff schedules to optimize lesson planning.
Orient clients to the BVRS facility.
Maintain required certifications.
Provide sighted guide training to staff and volunteers.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in orientation and mobility.
Preferred experience working with individuals with vision loss or other disabilities.
ACVREP Certification.
Valid driver’s license.

Decision-Making Authority and Supervisory Responsibility:

Reports directly to the Director of Rehabilitation.
Holds decision-making authority regarding clients’ orientation and mobility training programs.
Supervises orientation and mobility interns from university training programs.

Ability to perform tasks that involve physical activity, such as demonstrating adaptive techniques and navigating various environments.
Capability to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 25 Pounds without assistance,
Ability to travel to different locations as required for client training sessions.
Ability to anticipate and mitigate hazards to ensure client safety.
Capability to assist clients to their feet if they have fallen.
Ability to speak professionally on the phone with various stakeholders
Ability to utilize a visually based database
Responsibility to lift and /or carrying supplies up to 25 Pounds without assistance,

Ability to evaluate information and the implications of a course of action or solution
Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

Evaluate trends in data or information.
